Ice Space

The world’s largest ice structure outside the artic circle, Ice Space was built from 250 tonnes of ice which was carved out of 200 year old glaciers from Canada and Iceland. The 20m x 90m ice structure built on the South Bank near Tower Bridge was covered by a thin canvas building to keep the full force of the sun off. The StratoSphere venue was used as the entrance to this unique attraction, utilising our blackout dome, meant we could produce internal projections onto the surface of the Sphere during the day; we also had an extra set of projection systems outside the Sphere for projections in the evening. Ice Space featured bars, music stages, ice sculptures and the world’s first summer ice skating rink. Inside the different areas everything was made from ice, from the chairs and tables to the chandeliers!
